Criteria & Application
Eligibility Criteria
The scholarship is available to high school senior students who exemplify the following characteristics:
Academic Achievement – Dedicated student who works hard and seeks continued growth inside and outside of the classroom.
Leadership – Know yourself and have a vision that is well communicated.
Character – Serve as a positive role model for their peers through conduct and attitude.
Community Service – Exhibit admirable and praiseworthy qualities of good citizenship.
Personal Poise – Able to articulate goals, abilities, skills, and rationale for pursuing a particular career.
**This is a ONE-TIME scholarship**
The candidate’s intended major at a two-year or four-year college/university must be in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) to be considered for this scholarship.

Three letters of recommendation as follows:
An individual who is not related to the student and who is not affiliated with the academic institution the student currently attends (personal recommendation);
The student’s Pastor or designee of the religious organization in which the student belongs;
An Academic Advisor, School Counselor or School Administrator, etc.
I. Gather information for the parties who will submit materials on your behalf

Applicants will need the names and email addresses of individuals providing recommendations on your behalf.
Applicants will need the email address for high school and/or college or university office(s) from which to secure a pdf of official transcript(s).
II. Submit your requests for letters of recommendation/transcripts

Copy, paste, and email the link with your request to the individuals and/or institutions. Link can be found in your confirmation email.
The link you provide will open an online form. The individuals and/or institutions should complete the form upload the applicable letter and/or transcript and submit it to Macedonia Baptist Church.
An acknowledgment of each submission will be provided by Macedonia Baptist Church to the third party.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the MHEAP applicant must:
Be an active youth member of Macedonia Baptist Church;
Be a high school graduate or a student preparing to graduate (GED is acceptable); or presently attending college, technical or vocational school at any undergraduate level; and
Submit a copy of your acceptance letter from the higher education institution (if you are a first-time higher education student or have transferred to another institution).
Eligibility Criteria
Graduating Male High School Senior
Evidence of potential leadership ability as demonstrated by participation as a leader or officer in school or extra-curricular organizations.
Academic achievement as evidenced by attaining a B or 3.0 average, or 2.75 average if coursework includes 2 or more AP-level courses.
Participation in sports at the varsity level.
Participation in any area of the arts.

4. To demonstrate your creativity please describe and upload in any format that you choose how this scholarship will help you to achieve your college goals. Submissions may include examples of the student’s music, dance, video, PowerPoint, poetry, and/or essay.
5. Three letters of recommendation from the following:
An individual who is not related to the student and who is not affiliated with the academic institution the student currently attends (personal recommendation);
The student’s Pastor or designee of the religious organization in which the student belongs;

The scholarship is available to high school seniors of African ancestry who exemplify the following characteristics:
Academic Achievement - Maintain a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or greater on a scale of 4.0.
Leadership - Serve in a leadership position(s) in school, religious organizations, community, and/or civic organizations.
Character - Serve as a positive role model for their peers through attitude and conduct.
Community Service - Exhibit admirable qualities of good citizenship through community and/or civic volunteerism.
Personal Poise - Able to articulate goals, abilities, shortcomings, and rationale for pursuing a particular career path.

The Rev. Leonard D. Comithier, Jr. HBCU scholarship is available to active youth student members who exemplify the following characteristics:
Academic Achievement - Acceptance to an accredited HBCU institution.
Leadership - Serve in a leadership position(s) in school, religious organizations, community, and/or civic organizations.
Character - Serve as a positive role model for their peers through attitude and conduct.
Community Service - Exhibit admirable qualities of good citizenship through community/civic volunteerism.
Personal Poise - Able to articulate goals, abilities, shortcomings, and reasons for pursuing a particular career path.
Awardee Expectations
For High School Students
must submit a copy of course registration by September 30th to receive the award for the first semester of enrollment.
For Returning College Students
Each semester, students must provide confirmation of enrollment and prior semester grades via submission of the following:
submit a copy of their fall semester course registration no later than September 30th
a copy of their transcript from the previous semester; submitted by January 30th
Student must:
Be an active youth member of Macedonia Baptist Church;
Be a graduating high school senior;
Be enrolled in high school on the date of this application;
Have demonstrated talent, character, and aptitude for college matriculation;
Submit a copy of an acceptance letter from an accredited two- or four-year college or university.
Submit a copy of the first-semester course registration prior to the release of funds.

An individual who is not related to the student and who is not affiliated with the academic institution the student is attending (personal recommendation);
the student’s Pastor or designee of the religious organization in which the student belongs (e.g. recommendation letters can be from an Associate Pastor, Deacon, ministry chair or member of a church ministry etc.); and
an Academic Advisor, School Counselor, Administrator or Teacher, etc.
